Daceyville Public School presentation day

Ron Hoenig MP with Hossion Ali

What a delight it was to return to my old primary school, Daceyville Public School for the annual presentation day. Such talented students performed so impressively. Daceyville has such a wonderful reputation. The performances of its school band, which commenced more than 4 decades ago is well known all over Sydney. Over the years its school band has performed in so many places in Sydney and even Norfolk Island. The band’s performance today certainly lived up to its reputation. The school’s music talent was on display with performance of its choir and dance with very proud parents looking on.

Returning to your old school holds so many special memories. I always take the opportunity to look at my old classrooms that seemed so large when I was a student, and seem so small to me today.

Ron Hoenig MP addressing the students
At Daceyville its all its staff take pride in providing children with, as they correctly say; “…a depth and breadth of educational opportunity. This takes place in a dynamic, innovative and caring learning environment, focused on achieving high levels of success for every child.”

It was pleasing to see so many community representatives present; particularly my good friend, Federal Member for Kingsford Smith, Matt Thistlethwaite and Botany Bay Deputy Mayor George Glinatsis.

I was also delighted to present Year 6 student Hossion Ali the Ron Hoenig MP Outstanding Leadership Award for 2013. Hossion has been a wonderful role model for his fellow students, always leading by example.
