St.Spyridon College Academic Excellence and Student Leadership Assembly

Ron Hoenig MP presenting the Outstanding Leadership award to Eleni Preketes
I was thrilled to attend St.Spyridon’s College Academic Excellence and Student Leadership Assembly. The presentation included both the Junior and Senior Colleges and recognised all achievements from Kindergarden to Year 12. The presentation also recognised the schools 30 years in the pursuit of excellence.

St. Spyridon College is an independent co-educational school providing education to approximately 700 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Established in 1983 by the St. Spyridon Parish of South East Sydney, I can attest to what the school says that its students come from 20 different cultural backgrounds and that all students share a caring environment that promotes educational excellence. "At St Spyridon College we prepare young people to take their place in a rapidly changing world with confidence and success."

The college prefects and the school dux were also announced and you just see how excited the students were in accepting their awards and achievements for the year that was.

I was honoured to be a part of their assembly and present the "Ron Hoenig Outstanding Leadership Award" which is awarded to the student who demonstrates all qualities of being an exceptional leader within the school. This year it was awarded to Eleni Preketes from Year 6 for her exemplary behaviour and the role model she has been to her peer support group in which they have thrived.

I would like to congratulate all the students that received awards and I would also like to thank Mrs Stefanou-Haag, Head of College for inviting me along to this very special event.
